To mark its 150th anniversary, TAG Heuer will re-issue the Silverstone Chronograph in February 2010 as a limited edition piece. Originally introduced in 1974, the Silverstone is instantly recognizable by its cushion cut-shaped case. Just like the Swiss brand has initially promised, the 2010 TAG Heuer Silverstone Chronograph is almost identical to the original model both inside and outside. Powered by an updated version of the Calibre 11 with Dubois-Depraz module, the new Silverstone chronograph will be available in blue or brown dial version, with each version limited to 1,500 pieces. And the new Silverstone chronograph will come with matching perforated alligator straps and stainless steel cases. The new Silverstone’s only problem is its price. Limiting its total production run to only 1500 pieces, TAG Heuer plans to charge as high as $6500 for this beauty.

A Swiss watchmaker Christophe Golay has recently debuts with $350,000 ultra-luxurious watch into the U.S. market. The new line of high-end watches from Cephee combines Swiss craftsmanship with hi-tech engineering. The first watch to be introduced under the new Cephee brand is “Ether” that features over 150 precision set baguette diamonds, with an invisible channel setting that allows each stone to reflect all the light that it absorbs. Cephee is a collection of masterworks from the combined talents of master artisans of watch and jewelry. ‘The new watch line is in a class by itself,’ said Golay. The hands of the watch are fashioned of a delicate blue tinted sapphire called colored spinel, and the straps are handmade of the softest supple leather with a hand-crafted diamond buckle. Cephee manufactures every aspect of these watches in their own workshop in Geneva.

The Challenge Black Flag from Corum’s Admiral Cup is the latest watch from Corum that displays outstanding watch making and excellent design. The 12 sided case of the Black Flag is cut from black titanium and is housed in a 48mm casing that features luminescent blue detailing and an hour, minute, and seconds counters. Luxury watch brand Industrial North Design recently released two new distinctive, modern watches based on the automotive background of the company’s founders, Andy Shaw and Robert Silkstone. Watch designs of Industrial North Design, take inspiration from the world of automotives, as well as a combination of natural world influences such as the Fibonacci sequence, Geodesic domes and the construction of the beehive, which is seen as a symbol of industry. The intensive manufacture techniques such as spark erosion and wire-EDM machining combined with laser engraving and CNC turning mean that their products have a dimensional accuracy of 0.02mm. These exclusive luxury watches have been priced at a staggering $8280 a piece and the company has decided to manufacture only 15 units for each design.

Tag Heuer has released the Tag Heuer Monaco V4 Watch, the world’s first belt-driven, ball bearing timepiece. Because the watch requires no gears to operate, it’s more efficient, with less vibrations, than a traditional watch. And TAG Heuer is obviously eager to show off its new take on watch construction, with the inner workings exposed, forming the backdrop for stylish blue hands The mechanics on this thing are truly amazing, a system never before seen in a watch like this. Power is stored in four barrels that are seen in the rear of the watch (hence the V4 name). The power reserve is 52 hours, and the watch is actually very accurate at about plus or minus 4 seconds a day. To be released in a limited run of 150 units, this revolutionary wrist watch is available for 55,000 Euros on the market,for roughly $80,000.

The watch is called the “Hu” and is designed by popular award-winning designer Ross Lovegrove. It will be sold under the Issey Miyake watch brand name, who himself is a clothes designer who has a growing watch line. Plus, the watch will be built by Seiko, so it is up to you to decide exactly who this watch “comes from. Seiko and Issey Miyake (both Japanese) have actually been working together since 2001. The concept is that the watch should look like an extension of your body – as though it was growing out of your wrist. Sure the colors don’t exactly match, but that would just look weird. The Hu watch is made of titanium with a rubber strap and comes in gray, white, and black. This superb design shows “Hu” for September 2009.
