As if we needed proof that women love their shoes a recent survey has shown just how much women like a good pair of shoes. According to Gocompare women will spend more than £16,000 on ladies shoes over the course of their lifetime. According to the survey we buy our first pair of shoes at 14 and then buy seven pairs a year for the rest of out lives which means women buy 469 shoes.
On average we spend £34. on each pair of shoes and the average woman has around 19 pairs of shoes in their wardrobe at any one time. Hayley Parsons, from Gocompare.com said: ”Women love shoes, this is a fact, so it comes as no surprise to learn that we spend a large part of our disposable income on shoes.
”And while £34.99 isn’t actually that much for one pair of shoes, the average female is actually housing 19 pairs of shoes worth £664.81 at any one time.
The survey found that we buy shoes for a specific purpose and we own around three pairs of heels for formal functions and special occasions. In addition we have six pairs of flip flops, sandals, ballet pumps and wedges for when the sun shines and three pairs of boots for the winter. As well as these we have four pairs for nights out – such as stilettos, kitten heels and knee highs. And girls have two pair of sensible work shoes and another two ‘random’ purchases.
The study also revealed one in four women own at least one pair of designer shoes – while 53 per cent wish they did. And the most desirable shoe labels well that will be Jimmy Choos, Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blanik.
For over a third of those surveyed their shoes were the most important part of their outfits. So what should you be spending that £35 on this season? Well clogs have been a huge fashion hit this season and they should take you through into winter.
